Thunder Hooves - The western you never knew you needed
Step into the weird and wonderful wild west with Thunder Hooves – The Western You Never Knew You Needed, a fast-paced comedy packed with larger-than-life characters, outrageous misunderstandings, romance, betrayal, horse theft, and one dangerously spicy salsa.
Set in a lively old-time saloon, the story follows two best friends who both fall head over heels for the same charming Spanish horse trader.
But when the truth begins to unravel, the two friends put aside their differences and join forces with the saloon regulars to expose the charming con man. Their plan? A concoction so spicy it may be more effective than any confession booth.
With its cheeky Western humour, colourful characters, audience interaction and plenty of opportunities for physical comedy, Thunder Hooves is designed to be a fun, energetic and highly adaptable theatrical experience.
Performance Format
The show was originally written as a three-act theatre restaurant production, making it particularly well suited to venues where audiences can enjoy food, drinks and entertainment as part of the experience. However, the script is deliberately flexible and can also be performed as a conventional theatre production without music or musical numbers if preferred.
The three-act structure can also be easily adapted into a two-act production, allowing directors and companies to tailor the pacing and format to suit their venue, cast and audience.
The approximate performance time is 90mins, making it an ideal length for an evening of comedy, community theatre, dinner theatre or festival performance.
Cast
The play features 11 named speaking characters, with additional opportunities for ensemble members, patrons and musicians/singers depending on the production format.
Main characters include: 4f, 5m
The production can be scaled to suit the company, with ensemble roles and saloon patrons offering opportunities for a larger cast where desired.
